  • A New Addition!

You guessed it – as of this week I’m 19 weeks pregnant with baby number two! Honestly, there is no way to hide the bump anymore. This time around it popped SO much faster. Our entire family is overjoyed that we will be welcoming a baby GIRL this June!! Jackson walks around the house pointing to my bump saying “nina, nina” and he loves handing me food saying it’s for “baby.” He also loves to kiss my bump and point to her room – I know he’s going to be an amazing older brother. It’s been hard to keep this a secret from all of you – this pregnancy has been a rough one. This Fall (starting in October) I was in bed with all day sickness. Some days I could make it through meetings, other days I’d be in bed most of the day – each day was unpredictable. Luckily, right after Christmas I started to feel back to my old self again. It’s been a blessing feeling like me again. So, if you were wondering what was going on around here this fall, with less posts going up, now you know why. Thank you all for being so incredibly supportive – I can’t wait to share more about motherhood and how this pregnancy is going with all of you. A HUGE thank you to Andrea for capturing this photo of Jackson when we told her the news! #lifestyle

  • Real Talk / Real Moms: Raising a Little Reader

This installment of Real Talk with Real Moms is all about books and creating avid little readers (or at least attempting/hoping to create them). When it comes to reading we started a nighttime routine when Jackson was just three months old. The routine consists of reading two to three books each night in our bed. Fast forward to today and we’re still doing the same routine – Jackson runs from his room to our bed for story time yelling “book, book!” This is an excitement I hope never fades. Both Eric and I value raising Jackson to be an avid reader. His bookshelf is accessible so that he can grab books at anytime. Now, it hasn’t always been easy getting him to settle down for these reading sessions. Some of you may be wondering “does he really lay down with you and pay attention?” – the answer is no. We’ve gone through several phases that have been challenging and tested our patience, but we didn’t want to stray from our routine. So whenever he is in one of those rough phases, we go through one book and call it a night. Sometimes he will be wiggling, talking or kicking the book, but we always manage to read it. We’ve hit an age where Jackson has settled down, plays by himself more, picks up books and flips through them. It brings me so much joy to see him learning in this way. Sometimes I don’t want to blink because I’m afraid it’ll be the day where he’s reading to me instead. If only time could go a little slower, but for now I’ll cherish these moments with him and be proud that he knows what’s coming up in the book as we turn the page. I wanted to share some of our favorite books that we’ve read together since Jackson was a baby. There is everything from The Pout-Pout Fish to Little Blue Truck to Moo Baa La La La – each of these have Jackson tickled by the end. And if you want one that’ll make you teary eyed – a family favorite is Wherever You Are: My Love Will Find You, it’s SO good! • Interiors: The Finished Product (The After)

Yesterday, I chatted about how to decide if a piece of furniture should be revitalized (click here to read). Once you’ve decided a piece is worth keeping, working with Revitaliste makes the process of getting the job done completely seamless. They have a four-step process that gets the work done efficiently and beautifully. The Revitaliste Way Tell them what you want to revitalize: Here you’ll send them a photograph, along with the dimensions. Revitaliste will quickly get back to you with a detailed estimate of the cost. Pick a fabric/finish you like: You can buy the fabric or Revitaliste will help choose one for you. Schedule a pick up: Revitaliste has white-glove moving partners that ensure the utmost care throughout the process. Select the day and a two-hour window and they’ll do everything else. Enjoy: You’ve transformed your favorite furniture. Now sit back and enjoy it! The before and after of these chairs is phenomenal in my eyes! Not only did they reupholster these beauties, but they also rebuilt the cushions. After having them in my office for a month, I’d sink each time I sat down – not something you want happening during a client meeting. Over time, cushions begin to sag and show their age. Now I have chairs that are stunning and comfortable to sit in at the same time. As a designer, I’m constantly on the hunt for new ways to support our community of artisans. Revitaliste is not only supporting the local artisans right here in the Bay Area, but they are making it easy for designers and others to revitalize their favorite furniture. They make the process easy and I’m always excited to see the beautiful pieces they’ve completed. So, if you have a piece you’ve been procrastinating on revitalizing (you know you have one!), consider visiting the Revitaliste to get the job done! • Interiors: Revitalize Your Furniture (The Before)

I don’t know about you, but I always seem to have a piece of furniture that could use recovering. When I started to dream of what I wanted in the new studio I didn’t want to get something new for our seating area. Recently I turned to Revitaliste to get two vintage green corduroy chairs I had bought from Elsie Green House & Home, reupholstered and revitalized. They were the perfect chairs for my new office, but need some TLC. Not all vintage furniture needs to be reupholstered. But everyone usually has a piece or two that’s been stowed away in their home or storage, that has sentimental attachment, or it was the perfect shape and size for a particular place. We continue to hold on to it with the hope that one day we’ll get around to revitalizing it. However, not knowing where to go or how to find the right fabric, keeps us procrastinating in getting it completed. Tips to determine if the piece is something you should keep It holds sentimental value It has a unique shape and you love the lines of the piece It perfectly fits in a physical space (e.g. a love seat that just fits in a small alcove) It serves a specific function Chair Makeover with Revitaliste I loved the process of working with Revitaliste. They first gave me a plethora of stunning fabric samples to choose from after asking me about color, texture, and type of fabric. Once I made my decision (which is a favorite that we use for many clients), they picked up the chairs and took care of everything. They not only upholstered them but also re-crafted them to be a new and functioning set of chairs. I went to visit my beauties as they were being worked on, but you don’t need to do that. Once they finished, Revitaliste delivered them to the office and voila. Tomorrow I’ll be sharing the full reveal of the made over chairs – they are stunning. I couldn’t be happier. Be sure to pop back by tomorrow! Photos by Andrea Posadas for Sacramento Street #interiors

  • Interiors: Do You Collect Anything?

I never thought I would actually collect anything, but over the years, I seem to have accumulated enough of a few things, to consider it a collection. These are the things I keep on my radar when I’m at the flea market or my favorite antique shops. To begin with, let’s be honest, collections can get out of control quickly! Before you know it, you’re “one of those people” with a house full of porcelain dogs or whatever you collect. That being said, I still tend to have my eye out for certain items. Café au lait bowls are one thing I’ve collected for a long time. I have open shelving in my kitchen, and I love how they look up on the shelves – all different yet pulled together by their like color. Blue has been a lifelong favorite color and all the bowls have different patterns but in some shade of blue. At a certain point I’ll have to put the breaks on with my café au lait bowls but for now, I am filled with excitement every time I find a new one! • New Year, New Inspirations

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season with your friends and family. I’m definitely ready to dive into a new year after a hard Fall season – our family was sick week after week and then right when we were feeling healthy and getting back into the groove, my grandmother passed away. Let’s just say, a fresh start was needed for me. This year, I’m setting out to have a few resolutions that I can achieve every day. Life last year was hectic, but I was able to un-intentionally start some goals for myself that I want to continue this year. Clean the Clutter Yes, at the beginning of each year this is a goal for many, but I find that even cleaning the clutter from your everyday life makes a huge difference. We can all clean out closets but what about the everyday pile-up? Each night I walk around the house and clean everything up. It’s something I started doing and let me tell you, when I wake up in the morning it feels so good to have a tidy house. People ask me how I keep a clean house with a toddler and this is my secret. Plan for Tomorrow A girlfriend of mine – Camille Styles taught me this years ago. I asked her how she stayed on top of things with kids. She shared that she took 15 minutes each night to write out her to-do list, set goals and go over her schedule for the day. I haven’t been very good at this but this year I’m taking the time to achieve this goal. Go to Sleep Earlier This is something everyone should do. It’s incredible what a little extra sleep does for your body and mind. Nothing is more important than getting a full night sleep. Try New Recipes Do you ever get in the 10 recipe rotation rut? We certainly do in our house. Since I just cleaned out our pantry I can now see all of our cookbooks. I’m going to make my way through one recipe from each cookbook this year. Some I’ve never even cracked open! Take Time for Myself This is something I definitely don’t do enough of. Whether it’s going to a workout class, meeting up with a girlfriend for coffee, going to a coffee shop to actually read through a magazine. Even 30 minutes does wonders for the soul. What are your goals for 2017? I’d love to know! #lifestyle

  • Spreading the Connection – Google Wifi

In today’s family life, kids as well as their parents are often in need of the Wi-Fi for managing their lives in the “connected” world. If you’re anything like our family, you tend to have multiple gadgets in use at the same time – smartphones, laptops, or pads – all relying on a strong connection to Wi-Fi. In our home, we also have the added complication of a flat that’s in the shape of an L. As a result, we have zones in our house where our Wi-Fi is spotty, even on a good day! One solution we’ve found that has made every nook and cranny in our home Wi-Fi connected is Google Wifi. We placed them in key targeted areas and now I can set classical music in my toddler’s room while he sleeps, my husband can check baseball scores online, and I can check out my social media while listening to music online. I also love the sleek modern look of Google Wifi. The multi points system blends perfectly with my décor and look right at home! With the entire home up and running with Google Wifi, we have reliable Wi-Fi our entire family can rely on. Check out Google Wifi and see for yourself how you can manage and improve your Wi-Fi connection at home! This post is a partnership with Google Home. All opinions are my own. • Style: Getting Festive for the Holidays

Throughout the holiday season it seems as though everyone is running around – checking off items from their shopping lists, attending holidays soirees and packing for their impending holiday travel. In our household, I feel as though mid-December came and it’s utter chaos! Yes, my dining room is filled with gifts that have yet to be wrapped, I’ve stuffed our holiday cards but have yet to address them and until a few days ago our tree hadn’t even been decorated. Let’s just say, this year I’m way behind. With that being said, I was able to pick up a few key pieces that I knew both Jackson and I could wear throughout the holidays. When it comes to dressing for the holidays I have three key tips I always go by: Layer – It’s always a little chillier this time of year so adding layers is a must. Whether it’s a staple sweater or scarf it adds a little extra something to an outfit. Pick it out ahead of time – This is a new rule I use for myself and my family. If we are hosting or going out – I make sure that all of us know what we are changing into so that we can get ready we ease. Keep it simple – at the end of the day, don’t over think your outfit. Remember that keeping easy and simple will make you feel more comfortable at whatever family gathering or event you might have. What matters most around the holidays is gathering together with your favorite people and having a joyful moment that is filled with laughter, joy and merriment. That’s what we plan on doing this season. Happy holidays and I hope this helps guide you on dressing you and your family for the holidays with ease! • Eat Local: Petit Crenn

I’ve been writing often during the holidays about shopping locally, but another great way to support your local community is to also choose small local restaurants to frequent as you make your holiday plans. It’s always fun to find a new gem to try out with friends or family and it can also contribute to the success of small and local restaurants. Today I’m featuring Petit Crenn, a neighborhood restaurant located in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley. Chef Dominique Crenn’s mother and grandmother, as well as her hometown of Brittany, France inspired Petit Crenn. I love the cool and inviting atmosphere that is created in Petit Crenn – neutral colors and sleek design are a reprieve from your busy holiday schedule. Eric and I love going to Petit Crenn for the seven-course meal, which is offered by reservation twice an evening, but you can also order a la carte at the Chef’s Counter without a reservation. Be sure to try the gnocchi – they are the best I’ve ever had! And here’s what is great about eating locally. Find out why I #shopsmall with American Express at my favorite local businesses, including my favorite restaurants. When you eat at local restaurants, you could receive more rewards when you use an enrolled American Express Card to pay through 12/31 thanks to @AmericanExpress. Go here to enroll and visit their map hereto see if your favorite restaurant qualifies or to get a great list of small local places to both eat and shop at. It’s a win-win situation when you get extra rewards and your local shops and restaurants benefit from your patronage. Happy Holidays! Big thanks to American Express for sponsoring this post! • Our New Family Friend – Google Home

Home has taken a whole new meaning since we had Jackson. Granted, both Eric and I were homebodies before we grew our family, but making our apartment a home was even more of a priority once we had him. Our home is a place where we relax, play, entertain, and work. As a parent, life gets hectic – before the sun rises it’s like a whirlwind has come through our home. But to make life just a little bit easier throughout our day, we turn to Google Home. With Google Home, we never miss a beat. Everyone in our family – even guests – are in awe of the product. Here are five reasons why our house loves having Google Home at our fingertips: We catch up on the morning news each morning. It’s a nice way to stay in touch with what’s happening in the world without turning on the TV. We’re able to ask it important questions – anything from, how many teaspoons is in a cup to when the sun is setting that very same day. Getting the weather report – so that all of us are prepared for what the day is about to bring us. The most asked questions for Jackson – playing a train or fire truck sound. The way his face lights up is magical. We have family dance parties at least once a day. Probably our favorite new activity. Google Home has made it possible for us to feel like we have a heads-up on what the day will bring us. And each of us knows that when we get home from work or school that there is a dance party waiting for us right as we walk in the door.. Check out more details about Google Home here and if you are looking to add a helpful device into your life – Google Home is the perfect product for your home. Right now you can also get 6 months free YouTube Red with every purchase! This post is a partnership with Google Home. All opinions are my own.
