- a brand new week . . .
Ahhh, aren’t long weekends oh so sweet? To think that a short work week lies ahead will definitely add a little skip in my step. This weekend I stayed at home mending a cold – watched movies with family, got taken care of and just lounged around . . . it was quite lovely even though I have a scratchy throat. Even though I was under the weather I managed to rally for Alameda and boy I’m sure glad I did. A few treasures I brought home where vintage magazines (one of which is the New Yorker above – I fell in love with the drawings of the doorways), a paint palette, paint brush and my favorite find was vintage wallpaper (pictured on my iPhone). It was a successful trip! Hope all of you had a lovely long weekend and cheers to a short week! #lifestyle
- On the Menu: Tagliarini with Chanterelle, Corn and Peppers
In our house, fresh pasta is a weakness for both of us. There really isn’t anything like it, right? Over the weekend we decided to try something new for our date night. We headed over to Salumeria in Potrero Hill to pick up a fun little new treat – their Weekend Pasta Project kit. The kit includes all the ingredients for dinner for two – fresh pasta that comes straight over from flour + water’s dough room, pasta sauce ingredients, veggies or protein and the recipe. We were excited to try this project so we brought it back home and start cooking right away. The result – a mouth watering pasta dish that had my mouth dancing. Luckily, you can make this dish right in your very own home. Enjoy friends! Kit Ingredients 8 oz fresh tagliarini 1 cup of mushroom stock 1 1/2 cups of chanterelle mushrooms 1 ear of corn 1 pepper 1 small white onion a few sprigs of nepitella parmigiano Directions 1. Boil salted water for pasta in large pot. 2. use paring knife to gently scrape away any dirt from chanterelle, wipe with a moist paper towel, then cut into quarters. 3. Heat 1 oz olive oil in a 12″ saute pan over medium heat. Add mushrooms and diced onion, season with a little salt. Saute until mushrooms reabsorb liquid. 4. Add diced peppers and corn kernels (shaved off the cob with a sharp knife) and season with a bit more salt. 5. Drop pasta in boiling water until desired doneness, 1 – 2 minutes. 6. Add pasta to saute pan with stock and 1 -2T of butter and cook until sauce coats the back of a spoon. 7. Season to taste with salt and pepper; add chopped nepitella. 8. Divide into two bowls and top with grated parmigiano. Photos by Caitlin Flemming #entertaining #cooking
- a brand new week . . .
This weekend the days felt incredibly long, but it went by incredibly too fast. I was out and about having a brunch date at Batter Bakery, checking out a new store in town, hanging with family and finishing it off with a stack of magazines that got my head spinning with inspiration – for both fall fashion and interiors. A few things I’m loving – the new issue of Inside Out had stunning homes featured, bracelets I can’t stop wearing, a fabric option from Coraggio for a chair that needs to be re-upholstered, and a few desk items that are essentials. With a long weekend to look forward to I’m hoping this week flies by. Cheers to a productive week! Photo by Caitlin Flemming #lifestyle
- a brand new week . . .
Saying hello a little late here this Monday. This weekend I unfortunately threw out my neck and back, which didn’t make for a very productive weekend. I spent time with family (so excited to have my cousin in the city), read lots of magazines that I’ve been trying to finish and caught up on my DVR. I hope all of you had a way more productive weekend than me. A few things I loved from this weekend. The new issue of Elle Decoration UK (one home literally made my jaw drop), new notebooks and pens from my aunt, the Sunday edition of NY Time Magazine and a picture of I took while crossing the Golden Gate bridge. As my back slowly heals I hope by the end of the week I’m ready to enjoy a fun filled weekend. Cheers friends! Photo by Caitlin Flemming #lifestyle
- a brand new week . . .
A few things that I’m loving from this weekend – a book by Nicole Krauss that I can’t put down, chartreuse napkins from West Elm, a new canister for water, and the best thing, the new shoe bag to my brand new Isabel Marant Dicker boots. I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to have a new pair of boots for fall – especially a pair I’ve been wanting for a long time. I hope all of you had just as sweet of a weekend as I did. Let this week bring you joy, happiness and productivity! Photo by Caitlin Flemming #lifestyle
- on the menu: padron peppers
This past weekend, while shopping at the Fort Mason farmers market, I came across Pardon peppers – one of my favorite treats to make as an appetizer for dinner parties. They literally melt in your mouth and leave a lingering flavor that makes you want to grab another. Last night I made a batch for Eric and I to munch on while watching the Olympics and before I knew it the bowl was gone. He had polished off the entire bowl – they are that delicious. Plus, they only take about five minutes to make, which is a huge bonus! Bon appetit friends! Pardon Peppers with Sea Salt Ingredients 2 to 3 generous cups of Padron peppers 1-2 tablespoons olive oil Sea salt to taste Directions 1. Add olive oil to a hot frying pan, when the oil is hot add the Padron peppers. 2. Cook and stir the peppers until the skin is blisters. 3. Remove the peppers from the pan and place on a plate or bowl. 4. Sprinkle with sea salt to taste. Recipe and photo by Caitlin Flemming #cooking
- a brand new week . . .
I can’t believe the last weekend of July has passed – it’s been a month of enjoying a lot of time at home, going to farmers markets, seeing friends and enjoying the city in its quiet state. This weekend was spent relishing everything I just mentioned. A highlight was seeing Peggy of blue pool road for brunch – it’s always inspiring meeting up with creatives that you admire. She’s such an inspiration. A few things inspiring me this weekend – our new Turkish rug for our kitchen (I’m madly in love with it), a new scented candle that I couldn’t resist because of the scent and the name, fabric samples from Serena & Lily resulted in a new bed order that I can hardly wait to arrive and lastly, beautiful blooms from Birch that instantly made the house look alive. What inspired you this weekend? Be sure to check in regularly this week – you can expect a delicious food post, a new workspace feature and much more inspiration! Have a fabulous first part of your week. Photo by Caitlin Flemming #lifestyle
- On the Menu: Summertime Caprese Salad
I can’t begin to tell you how many caprese salads I’ve had throughout the past few weeks. When I walk into the grocery store all I want to cook with are the delicious vegetables that are in season – Eric is wondering where the meat is. Last night, while cooking dinner for a girls night we made up this summertime salad. Nothing was left on the platter – it was mouth-watering! Bonus: it’s so simple to make. Bon appétit friends! Summertime Caprese Salad Ingredients 4 to 5 heirloom tomatoes 8 oz mozzarella 1 avocado 2 ears of white corn 1/2 cup of english peas 3 tablespoons of olive oil 1/3 cup of basil 1.5 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar salt and pepper to taste Directions 1. On a large platter arrange sliced heirloom tomato and mozzarella slices, alternating and overlapping them. 2. Place slice avocado on top spread out evenly around the platter. 3. Cut corn of cob and layer over tomato, mozzarella and avocado. Then add the fresh english peas. 4. Sprinkle salad with basil and drizzle with oil. 5. Season salad with salt and pepper. iPhone photo by Caitlin Flemming #entertaining #cooking

This weekend started with a night at home with sushi takeout – it was exactly what I needed after a hectic week of installations. It was blissful. The rest of the weekend didn’t slow down – photoshoots for ‘workspace’ features, running errands, doing some shopping and going on an impromptu dinner with Eric made for a weekend that I crave to have more often. What did you do this weekend? A few things that have been inspiring me – a new clock from West Elm, two necklaces I’ve been layering together, John Robshaw textiles, and lastly, the new issue of Anthology. For all of you interior design lovers – buy it right away. I have a feeling this issue is going to sell out fast. The features inside get better and better as you turn each page. I hope each one of you have a wonderful and productive week ahead. Can you believe it’s the last full week of July? Where has this month gone. Be sure to pop in throughout the week. I’ll be announcing the Vero Linens winner, sharing an amazing summer recipe, and featuring a beautiful workspace that you won’t want to miss. Photo by Caitlin Flemming #lifestyle
- a brand new week . .
Hello Monday! This weekend was quite productive – most importantly, my closet got organized (thank you for all of helpful tips). It’s nice to finally have one item of clothing hanging on each hanger and I can see the top of my dresser . . . this is big friends! I also spent the day taking a photo styling course – it’s interesting to get the perspective of a photographer pitching and shooting homes for magazines. My head was filled with valuable tips that I will take into account when I’m working in the future. A few things I’m loving – a new canister of Mariage french breakfast tea, a piece of Astier that I have on my nightstand, my current go-to necklace that I got in Santa Fe and lastly, the new issue of Kinfolk (it’s such a good issue)! Starting off the week knowing that Eric is going to be home every night this week makes this week blissful. Hope your Monday is off to a wonderful start!
