- Layer It: New Years Eve
Now that Christmas has come and gone (tear!) it’s time to start planning New Years Eve. Every year we plan a huge party at a different bars around SF with friends – since we’ve started this tradition we’ve always had the best time ringing in the New Year. What I love most about New Years Eve is that it gives me a chance to dress up in ways I don’t normally do – fun jewelry, dramatic eyes, and I’m loving these tights to keep me warm. Do you have a a few things you’ve already found for your New Years Eve ensemble? 1. Silk and wool-blend crepe dress 2. Polka Dot tights 3. Aggie boot 4. Salvatore Ferragamo Miss Vara Bow shoulder bag 5. Encrusted Holiday 2013 nail polish 6. Nube grosgrain-trimmed coated woven shrug 7. J. Crew Crystal triangle necklace 8. Cage Ring by Bauble Bar 9. Smokey Eye Shadow Quad Whatever you might be doing this year, I hope this has given you a little inspiration for your outfit. #style
- a brand new week . . .
Good Monday morning – and most importantly, happy holiday week! While many of you might not be off this week I hope you’re spending your off hours slowing down, taking time to enjoy getting in the holiday spirit and most of all, unplugging. Today, I’ll be wrapping up last minute things in the office and then turning off my computer to spend the rest of the week with family and friends. It’s important to take time off to get inspired, savor the special moments that happen around this time of year and finish up those last minute items you want to do before 2014 is here. I can’t believe it’s an entire year has come and gone. This week we’ll be sharing a New Years Eve outfit that has me excited for this years soiree, an I’m Loving post that will feature our favorite posts from 2013 and a few more treasures that you’ll just have to check back in for later. I’m off to finish up my wrapping – a HUGE thanks to Smock Paper for making all of my packages stunning this year! Happy Christmas Eve Eve! Photo by Caitlin Flemming #lifestyle
- Shop Talk: Anyon Atelier
When a new shop opens up on Sacramento Street I think everyone in the neighborhood gets giddy inside – I certainly love having new places to source for clients and myself. Anyon Atelier opened its doors in May. I was over the moon! Honestly, I walk past it almost every single night on my way to the gym – I shop and look in the window. It’s almost as though it’s a little treasure box all lit up with beautiful vintage finds, one-of-a-kind artwork, pillows (by Rebecca Atwood – my fave!), and small treasures you can pick up for a hostess gift. It’s quite refreshing to have a new space to get inspired by on the street. The owner and designer behind the atelier is Lindsay Brier. Lindsay’s interest in the decorative arts began as a young child in her mother’s antique shop in Russian Hill, which is quite similar to me and it totally shows when you walk into her space. You are greeted with the kindest staff that is ready and waiting to tell you the stories behind each vintage piece or artwork. This is something I love in a shop – knowing the stories behind pieces makes them even more special, especially when you get them home. I wanted to share a few details about the pieces I’m featuring in these next set of images I took during my visit. In the first photo, the pair of vintage tall mid-century white urns could go into any home – I love their shape. The artwork, The Lone Tree is by Robert Christian Malmberg. The artist uses a custom-made Collodion camera and classic glass plate printing techniques, blending old world technology with contemporary subject matter to create a sense of isolation and timelessness. It’s stunning in person. This tray in the second photo was one of the first pieces that caught my eye. The artist, Brian Gennett, creates bespoke trays by scavenging vintage and antique books, laser cutting the leather into distinctive patterns and re-layering the pieces back together before gilding them. Amazing, right? Each piece is distinctive and unique, crafted with carefully chosen colors and textures, and a beautiful sense of history. It’s on my wish list! Coral inspired plaster mirror reflecting other treasures in the store including a barnacle vase and large scale rock crystal lamp and ballerina prints by Stefano Fantini from Siena, Italy. This photograph by Lisa Levine – I love the bright pop of color. This piece was inspired by her childhood in the Bronx and the luxury of having a pool, Lisa Levine now resides in the Bay Area and creates playful, graphic photo collages of families enjoying the brilliant water. Sitting below is a reclaimed Wood Console holding custom pillows. Most of the pillows are designed in house, designers choose their favorite textiles for a cozy, chic, eye-catching accessory. Last, but not least, they carry Rebecca Atwood pillows – a personal favorite. It’s special seeing a friends work in a Sacramento Street shop and they are flying off the shelves. SF friends, if you’re looking for a new home decor shop to get inspired by or to pick up a few treasures to add to your home, I highly suggest popping into Anyon Atelier. Everything is stunning. I can promise you’ll be leaving wanting to buy way more than when you walked in! Happy shopping! Photos by Caitlin Flemming #lifestyle
