  • Travel: Summertime in Deer Valley

A few weeks ago we took our very first trip as a family of four. As you can imagine, my nerves were racing thinking about two littles on a plane. We headed to Deer Valley, Utah for a dear friends birthday celebration. Since neither Eric or I had been before we didn’t know what to expect. As you travel from Salt Lake City to Deer Valley – only about 35 miles away – you travel with mountains surrounding you. The landscape gets more and more beautiful the closer you get to Deer Valley. We stayed at the St. Regis, which is perfectly perched on a mountain. Views took our breath away. I had been told that it was gorgeous, but wow! A few MUSTS in Deer Valley Take the chairlift. It will take you up the Silver Lake Express to see breath-taking views of the mountain range. Once you are up at the top you can take hikes. (Open from June – September) Lunch at Five5eed. Our concierge recommended it (link here) and we were blown away by our brunch. It’s not to be missed! Mountain biking. This is something we didn’t do with littles but others in our group took to the mountain via bikes. Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. One of the birthday celebration nights was at the amphitheater, which is completely surrounded by the mountains. They have a concert each Friday night in the summer. As you enjoy your picnic you watch the sunset with live music. So fun! High West Distillery. If you are into whiskey, this is the spot to go. All in all, we loved our time here and thinking about our next visit. We swam, lounged by the pool, hiked, napped, and enjoyed each others company. Plus, being there with friends was extra special. Do you have any favorites places you love to go with your family?

  • Interiors: End of Summer Bedding Refresh

Having a toddler and an infant at the same time, I feel as if it’s a constant struggle to keep my house looking good. We are of the belief that there are no “off limits” areas to our home. It seems the edges are a bit worn and I need to think about a refresh. One room I am addressing this summer is my bedroom. I desperately needed new linens and a different look that is lighter and calming. I went no further than down Sacramento Street to Jessie Black. You walk into the shop and it is the definition of calm and soothing. Exquisite linens and carefully curated furniture and accessories, make this a shop at the top of my list when I am looking for items for my clients. What I’ve done in my bedroom was relatively simple. I changed the lamps to these stunning Parisian Driftwood Lamps – a much needed change since I’ve had them since college. I then added new pillows, a Belgian Stitched Blanket and throws and it looks so much better. I also got one of the Gerhard Ceramics vases and a beautiful South African hand-woven basket that I am completely giddy about. In the end, my bedroom is an oasis of calm and I couldn’t be happier. I created two different looks. Which do you prefer? Check out Jessie Black when you’re on Sacramento Street. You can find them at: Jessie Black 3252 Sacramento Street San Francisco, CA 94115 (415)757-0202

  • Tips on Traveling Well (+ A Giveaway)

As someone who values travel in her life, I also love the art of traveling well. I always travel relatively light – I can use a carry on for a two-week trip. That being said, I love to have everything organized and I spend a great deal of time figuring out how to best do this. Here are some tips for traveling well I always bring a wrap/throw to have on the airplane. I steer away from those airline blankets (too many potential germs). I have several of the throws from St Frank (that I use as a shawl) in black, gray, and recently I got one in cream. They’re great on the plane but are also a perfect way to spruce up an outfit for evening. I don’t leave home without one. I also like to have several cosmetic bags to put medication, cosmetics, and even snacks in. You never know when you might need them. I love how the mud cloth travel clutch goes so perfectly with the larger clutch size (again, my “bag within a bag” belief). Be sure to have a good book. Have you read A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles? If not, this is a book you may want to pick up. It was such a heart-warming story. I also just started Commonwealth by Ann Patchett and I can’t put it down. Finally, always buy water for the airplane. Staying hydrated is one of the essential things for warding off jet lag. The good news is that we are having a giveaway. You can enter to win the St Frank throw and Mud Cloth Travel Clutch that I have pictured. All you need to do is: Follow both St Frank and myself on Instagram Comment below about what how you travel well and you’ll be eligible to win Please note that by entering the contest you agree to receive promotional emails from St. Frank. A winner will be selected on Monday, August 14th! The core to St. Frank’s mission is their two-fold social mission: Supporting economic empowerment for artisans Preserving traditional artisanal craft They accomplish this through partnering with entrepreneurial artisan organizations that transform the communities in which they work by providing quality jobs, training, and other holistic support to artisans. They collaborate with partners to tell the story of the historical and cultural context of each unique piece. Textiles are the most universal and yet diverse art form – and their pieces are celebrated as such. I personally love the variety they have and each piece is so versatile! Be sure to check out their website or visit them soon at their San Francisco store or the pop-up store in the Hamptons.

  • Beauty: My Go-To Products

Becoming a mama of two littles has changed our morning routine drastically. These days I find myself being pulled in so many directions and when I find myself with five minutes to get put together, I have to keep things simple. Lately I’ve been asked by several friends what products I’ve been using – they say I look refreshed (if only I felt that way!). So, I thought I’d share my go-to products I’ve been using since Amelia has arrived. 1. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer – This has SPF and a little tint to cover up a few blemishes. 2. Onomie A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment – One thing is for certain, the bags under my eyes are REAL. I just got this in the mail and so far I’m in love with it. 3. True Botanicals Eye Serum – I’ve loved this product for a long time. I use it at night and in the morning. It’s magic! I’ve been a huge fan of ALL their products since Jackson was born – I couldn’t live without my Pure Radiance Renew Oil and Cellular Repair Serum. 4. Glossier Boy Brow – This is a MUST! I rarely get to my esthetician to a brow wax and tint – it’s nice to give my brows a little boost every morning. While I’m definitely not a beauty expert these four products have been essential each morning. Do you have any products you love that make you feel more ready in the morning?

  • 4 Tips to Keeping Cool This Summer

This post was brought to you by Lennox. Innovation never felt so good. Contact your local Lennox dealer today to learn more about the precise and efficient HVAC products Lennox offers. The majority of the country was (and still is) suffering from a heat wave the past few weeks – even here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I live in a rental in the city (buying requires a small fortune!), but we have plans to buy a home soon. Recently, my husband and I have begun the search for a home to buy in the North Bay where temperatures are significantly higher than in San Francisco. And I know one of our top priorities will be to have a well maintained and quality HVAC system for comfort all year long. Even though I dream of looking out big, light-filled windows and watching children play in the garden, I know the feeling of perfect indoor air quality will be just as important to that dream as the perfect tangible things I can see. If you own your own home, or if you are still dreaming of the day, consider a few ways to keep it cool this summer: Hydrate all day long! I like to make a pitcher of iced tea or enjoy a glass of cool water. If it’s difficult for you to drink water, consider adding lemon and herbs to give it a bit of natural flavor. Think about changing your bed sheets for natural fibers. Linen sheets are especially cool to the touch and will keep you more comfortable in the summer. Add outside activities that include water to keep you cool. I used to always love a silly slide. Even a wading pool can be fun for your little ones. Take cool down breaks with popsicles made of fruit juice to keep everyone cool. Yet while these tips for staying cool outside in the summer weather are awesome, it is also important to stay cool and comfortable inside with clean and refreshing air. Striking a balance is key to a perfect summer! This balance can be achieved with indoor activities and projects, and refreshing drinks and food inside for a break from the heat. However, no matter what plans you make for summer warm weather, priority one is to be sure you have a home ready to beat the heat and provide you with cool comfort. What good is a perfectly designed home if you don’t feel good living in it? I always encourage my clients to understand the importance of having a comfortable and clean environment, capturing both the physical health and mental benefits of a quality HVAC system. Especially during the summer, this is the most important item to ensure your home has is clean, breathable air. Most of the time our indoor air quality goes unnoticed because it is something we can’t see. However, the air inside your home is much more important than you think and dirty air can cause allergies and even health-related problems. Lennox combats this by providing peace of mind with the PureAirTM Air Purification System which destroys the three most common indoor air pollutants: particles, germs and odors. In fact, the system actually filters out 99% of airborne particles like pollen, dust and pet dander. And that matters to our health and the health of our loved ones. Obviously, this is an investment in the health of you and your family and while it isn’t the same as getting a new sofa, it’s more important to the health and well being of you and your loved ones! This post is a partnership with Lennox. All opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting sponsored posts that keep Sacramento Street doors open.

  • New Kid on the Block: Modern Citizen

One thing I’ve been trying to do this summer is discover new places in the city since we aren’t traveling. I’m so excited about the new shop that opened in San Francisco –Modern Citizen(if you don’t live in the Bay Area don’t fret, theironline shopis amazing!). I went last week and wanted nearly everything in the shop. I ended up with three tops – a black mock turtleneck with flared sleeved, a sweatshirt with an open back, and a sleeveless white ruffled blouse. I honestly could have purchased so much more! I love the clean line, monochromatic neutral colors, and the prices just can’t be beat. They also have a well-curated selection of home items that will knock your socks off! I think this will be a wildly successful company and I am so thrilled they have opened in San Francisco. You can find the new Modern Citizen shop nestled in the Marina. Add it to your weekend to-do list! 2070 Union Street Open 9 – 5 PM moderncitizen.com

  • Beauty: Skin Renewal on Sacramento Street

I’m always finding new to me places on Sacramento Street that entice me to try them out. One thing I’ve come to realize with motherhood is taking the time to carve out an hour or so for “me time.” I decided to try a place I had heard was amazing but hadn’t had the opportunity to try out. Skin Remedy is tucked away behind one of the houses on the street. As I walked in, I felt myself completely relax in the soothing and clean surroundings. White walls contrasted to the natural woods used in the décor. And with products that are completely safe for every customer, my mind was put at ease as well. The philosophy behind Skin Remedy is to focus on healing each person’s skin type and condition with custom made products from their own raw ingredients. I had the Botnia’s Skin Remedy Facial and left feeling refreshed and restored – something I realized I should do more often. My skin glowed after the facial and felt clean and mended. Escape the stress and step into Skin Remedy for an incredible spa experience. You can find them at 3638 Sacramento Street in Pacific Heights or book your appointment at info@skinremedysf.com. I’ve already got my next appointment in my calendar!

  • Welcome Sweet Amelia

On June 5th, our family grew with the addition of our sweet Amelia. It feels as if she has always been with us – we are all so happy she is here! Jackson has shown his tender and loving side and showers her with kisses (and much to our chagrin, licks!) and tries to comfort her when she is crying. Amelia looks so much like Jackson did when he was this age but her personality seems different. I can already see the difference between having a boy and a girl! She has been such an easy baby (knock on wood) – something I wasn’t expecting but have happily embraced. It probably feels easier due to the fact that she breastfed immediately, something I struggled with Jackson. It's amazing how fast they grow. There are moments when I can’t believe she’s already a month old. We are trying to enjoy every minute, as we know this time passes so quickly. My days were definitely spent on the sofa gazing into Amelia’s eyes! Thanks for being understanding with my absences on posting. It was a treat taking a little quality time off to take in this transition to a family of four. To everyone that has been sending their sweet comments on instagram – thank you! I’ve got some great posts in the making – new SF finds, tabletop inspiration, interior projects to share and much more! Photos by Andrea Posadas

  • Style: Show Your Stripes

You know summer has fully arrived when you start thinking about your wardrobe for the Fourth of July. This is one of my favorite holidays – I have so many great memories from childhood of painting flags on my cheeks, eating watermelon, and having fun outdoors. Growing up in an expatriate community in Mexico City, there was always a huge celebration at my school mid-June to celebrate the Fourth. There were carnival rides, mariachi’s, and an amazing barbecue hosted by the dad’s of the school. It’s fun to think about creating our own memories for this quintessential summer holiday. Clothes are always fun to chose – easy and casual dressing works perfectly in the summer. I’m known to be slightly obsessed with stripes, so that makes it easy to figure out what we will wear. I want clothes to be easy to play in and not have to worry about getting dirty. Old Navy has become my go-to for clothes for the entire family. You can find fun, stylish clothing for such reasonable prices. It is now the only place I buy jeans for myself. I went for the more colorful choices this time – with a red stripe for Jackson and a red, white & blue stripe for me. Now all we need is a nice picnic, a few flags and a good spot to watch the fireworks! CAITLIN Mid-Rise Rockstar Skinny Jeans in White Relaxed Mariner-Stripe Tee (I have it in black and white too!) JACKSON Striped Crew-Neck Tee in Apple of My Eye | French-Terry Drawstring Shorts in Light Heather Grey  Faux-Leather Double-Strap Sandals in Navy | Chambray Vest from Fall at Old Navy This post is a partnership with Old Navy. • Design & Technology: The Gift for Dad This Father’s Day

This year will be a special Father’s Day, with a new baby girl in our family. It can be difficult to come up with a gift for my husband and dad. Neither of them have things they want – both are honestly happy with what they have. That being said, I have a father who loses everything. He travels frequently and always seems to lose his phone, computer, or wallet. He has been fortunate to have honest people send these items back to him. But wouldn’t it be great if he could easily find these items? I was excited to learn of a product that can eliminate losing your most needed items. For my husband, this would simply save time in the morning. He usually goes for a run with my son in a stroller each morning and then needs to get ready for work and be on his way. It would be perfect for him not to have to look in a variety of places for his keys. With Tile, he can easily find his keys, or anything else used with this location-tracking device. These small, affordable Tiles can be placed on wallets, purses (yes, please!), computers, and luggage. Tile can be purchased in stores such as Apple, Best Buy and Target, and is also available online around the world at www.thetileapp.com. Compact and easy to attach to anything, Tiles can go where you go. They are small, durable, and lightweight, perfect for attaching to those items that often get misplaced. I plan to give Tile to both my husband and my father. Saving extra time for our new bundle of joy! Time is the real gift – and we definitely cherish our time with both our children – they grow up so quickly and spending time with them is the real gift Tile can provide. This post is a partnership with Tile. All opinions are my own. Thanks for supporting sponsored posts that keep Sacramento Street doors open.
