  • a brand new week . . .

After fighting a horrible cold over the last part of this week I was finally able to get out of bed to start getting in the holiday spirit. My mom and I enjoyed lunch at Chez Panisse – a new holiday tradition we’re starting this year. The meal was delicious and the atmosphere was absolutely divine for a cold rainy day. The rest of the weekend was spent Christmas shopping, wrapping and finally getting our tree (it’s never too late, right?). Last week I was incredibly happy to be featured in GOOP – Gwyneth Paltrow’s site as one of her favorite sites she’s reading right now. When I found out on Thursday I couldn’t believe it. I had a “HOLY SH*T” moment when I found out on the bus – everyone probably thought I was crazy, but I was just in shock. Thank you all of the sweet comments on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. I hope all of you had a festive weekend and I hope it continues on into the week! Photo by Caitlin Flemming #lifestyle

  • One Bed. Two Spaces.

This past fall during an inspiring “how can we re-invent our spaces” talk with my mom we were on the topic of  beds – yes, I know that might be boring to some, but for could have gone on for hours. We went our separate ways to search and came back both having found the perfect bed for our respective spaces. Wouldn’t you know it that it was the same bed! The Pondicherry bed by Serena & Lily – like mother, like daughter. We’re each thrilled to receive our new beds.  I’ll no longer have to deal with an ugly bed-skirt, and my mom will finally have a guest room ready for family and friends that come to visit San Francisco. We thought it would be fun document how each of us styled the bed in our own spaces, so, along with Serena & Lily we invited the lovely Michelle Drewes to create this video! Want to get a similar look? Here is how. Julie’s Guest Bedroom: 1. Chocolate Gobi Embroidered Sheet Set 2. White Pickstitch Matelasse 3. Chocolate Border Frame Euro Sham I’m thrilled with the way each room turned out and it was such a pleasure working with Serena & Lily on these spaces. • On the Menu: Miso-Lemon Kale Chips

There isn’t anything like this guilt-free snack by Susan of Peas and Love – I promise, you’ll be making batch after batch every week. Perfect as an appetizer, a salad topping, or for snacking on at work! Plus, the best part is that they are simple to wipe up at home. Hope you enjoy this yummy treat! Miso-Lemon Kale Chips Ingredients 6 Kale Leaves, de-stemmed and torn into bite-sized pieces (note: do not use Dino Kale; MUST use the curly kind!) 1 1/2 Tbsp Olive Oil 1 Tbsp Organic Miso Paste Juice of 1/2 a Lemon Directions Preheat oven to 350. On a baking sheet, lay down all Kale and pour over the oil. With your hand, massage the Kale leaves in oil until all the leaves relax and are evenly coated. To make the dressing, dissolve Miso paste in a bowl with the lemon juice, using a spoon until a runny consistency is achieved. Pour dressing over the leaves and once again take your hand into it and make sure all the leaves get well coated with the dressing. Place in oven for 15 minutes, but be careful and stay vigilant, for they can burn! Keep a watchful eye and don’t let them get torched! Enjoy! No- rather, indulge! • a brand new week . . .

After a wonderful trip to Dallas, Austin and Houston I’m back in San Francisco. I had an incredible week seeing Austin for the first time and getting to stay with Camille was icing on the cake (plus, getting to meet Phoebe was so special). Then Eric and I traveled to visit family in Houston where we saw an amazing exhibit at the Menil Collection museum and got to experience the Rothko Chapel, which was breath-taking. Unfortunately, trips come to an end and it is time to get back into the swing of things. This week I’m super excited to unveil a collaboration with Serena & Lily that I’ve been working on – video included (check back tomorrow). I will also be sharing a fun holiday tabletop challenge I styled that you will want to see. Also, congrats to Lauren for winning the Cuyana giveaway – I’ll be emailing you shortly with more information! I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend full of holiday soirées and merry-making and that this week is off to an amazing start. • Minted.com Art Wall REVEALED + a Giveaway

Remember when Joslyn, Erin and I revealed our Minted.com Art Wall challenge and the prints our husbands picked out? – In my case it was the Lovebirds by Rene Mijares. Well, I had to end up creating a “small space” art wall with the prints I selected to go with the Lovebirds piece. It was a blast looking through all of the amazing pieces on Minted. In the end, I decided that a total of three prints would fit perfectly above my couch, which needed a little re-design anyway. It has had the same look for over a year now. I decided to go with a large sized abstract piece called Radiance and then a smaller photo called Runaway that reminded me of the beautiful bay that surrounds us. Now for the big reveal . . . . I’m thrilled with the way my art wall turned out. It completely freshened up my living room space. Now the fun begins for you – Minted wanted to give one lucky reader their very own piece of art for their home. Pretty awesome, right? Here’s how to enter the Minted art giveaway: ~ Leave a comment on this post, telling us which piece of art is your favorite from Minted and where you would put it in your house. That’s it! Just be sure to include your email address. One winner will be selected from Apartment 34, Simple Lovely and Sacramento Street. The winner can then select the piece of art of their choice in any size they desire! The winner will be chosen randomly and announced across all three blogs on Monday, December 10th! UPDATE: Congrats to Erika for being the winner this time! You’ll be receiving an email shortly. Good luck friends! #interiors

Susan here from Peas & Love – I have a new recipe that will make you want to bake tonight! Are you always running out the door and eating breakfast on the run? Are you a busy mom in need of a good way to hush up hungry children? Are you a mid-morning snacker and want something nutritious, protein-rich, light and slightly sweet? Or do you just love muffins? • a brand new week . . .

First and foremost, thank you for all of the supportive comments here on the blog, twitter and instagram. I was overwhelmed by everyones amazing comments. To have you cheering me on with this huge decision means so much to me! I’ll be updating you with what’s going on and the fun projects I’m working on. This weekend was blissful – I’ve been enjoying the weekend in Dallas with Joslyn and her lovely family. She took me to a few breathtaking stores (Le Jus being a favorite – their almond milk latte is delicious), went to the DMA, saw her daughter in the Nutcracker and just chilled in her beautiful home. It’s exactly what I needed to recharge me to start my freelance journey – Joslyn is like a cheerleader and always there for a little pep talk. Today’s inspiration is a little different – it’s a vignette from Joslyns home. It’s one of my many favorite corners of her house – from the Heath vase to the artwork . . . it just all works so well together. Have a wonderful first week of December friends! photo by Caitlin Flemming #lifestyle

  • Taking a Leap!

I’ve been waiting to reveal my news to you until my last day of work – I quit my job! I’ve been afraid, nervous and also very excited to share this with all of you because I don’t have my business page up yet, but instead of keeping it a secret I wanted to get it out there in the world. I’ll be working with design clients, styling photo shoots for publications and lookbooks, and helping small (and large) businesses grow their social media strategies. I’m thrilled to focus on my own way now. I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart and it seemed like the perfect window of opportunity to dive into this new endeavor. I know this road will be bumpy but if I didn’t take the leap I’d never know what it would be like or what I can accomplish. So, I’m giving myself this opportunity and hopefully as this window closes many more will open up to me. I can’t wait to see Sacramento Street grow and dive into fun, challenging and exciting projects in the near future! Definitely keep me in mind if you hear of any opportunities where you think I’d fit. Cheers to all of you for being amazing supporters of Sacramento Street – without you I would have never been able to take this leap! Have a lovely first weekend of December! I’m off to Dallas and Austin to visit the lovely Joslyn and Camille for a week, but I’ll be back here Monday with an exciting week of posts. xx, Caitlin Image by Caitlin Flemming #lifestyle

  • Sacramento Street Styld.by Gap!

Styld.by San Francisco series with Rue Magazine. I’m sure by now you’ve seen a bundle of tastemakers featured over on the Styld.by site – Apartment 34, Oh Happy Day, Shop Sweet Things and many more. SEE MORE STYLES For this particular Styld.by series we were asked to pick our favorite Gap item – in this case an ivory Cable Knit Cowl Scarf caught my eye. The rest of the outfit was pulled together by a Rue stylist and items from our very own closet (my go-to Rag & Bone jeans and Isabel Marant boots). Since we’re embarking on the holiday season of gift guides, Gap also asked each of us to make some gift picks – perfect for the December issue of Rue! We are featured amongst some amazing finds . . . it’s the ultimate holiday gift guide. Gap asked me to select a few special items for a Mini Fashionista – luckily I have a lot of girlfriends with daughters that are looking for the best Christmas presents for their little ones. I had a blast working with all these talented ladies. I’d also like to thank both Gap and Rue for including me in this series! Photos by Michelle Drewes. Styling by Erica Henderson. Hair by Lorenzo Diaz. Makeup by Keria Rowland. A HUGE thank you goes out to Chloe Rose Boutique, Carrots and Academy of Art University for loaning me some fabulous pieces for the shoot. #style
