As the air begins to change and I can start wearing my sweaters and boots, I often head over the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin, where many of my favorite small shop owners have their places. I have to admit, you can find me there on most weekends. I marvel that I’m living in San Francisco but can be a few minutes away from a region known for seafood, redwoods, and high quality small business owners.
Over twelve years ago, when I first moved to the city, one of the places I found in Marin was Summer House. It’s one of my all time favorite shops. Summer House has two stores filled to the rim with furniture, rugs, pillows, and accessories for the home. This is a shop where I’m constantly finding pieces for my own home and clients. Another Mill Valley favorite I’m obsessed with is True Botanicals for their organic natural skin care products that have changed my skin for the better. I also love popping over to Margaret O’Leary for their incredible sweaters(love this sweater weather!) and Mint for a cute item for my toddler!
Once I’ve hit up these Mill Valley favorites, I head to either Rustic Bakery or Farm Shop for a delicious and fresh salads for lunch. Both located in Marin County Mart. If you haven’t been – it’s a must! I first began coming here when Erica Tanov opened. Erica Tanov carries both home goods and clothing designed right here in the Bay Area. This will always be one of my favorite shops, as I worked for her while I was in college. I know that her pieces are made to last a lifetime and have truly been the foundation of my wardrobe!
