One Room Challenge: Week Four with The Mine + Moodboard

This week, I thought I’d give you a look into my creative process by showing you some of the ideas I’ve had for my son’s room for this One Room Challenge. Two weeks ago, I went through the process of choosing the paint color – we decided to go with All White by Farrow & Ball. Jackson’s room is the darkest in our house so it needed a paint color that would brighten it up. The room was painted last week and looks perfect! It feels like an empty canvas ready for the pieces I’ve selected to come in!

I wanted to choose a design that would be easy to update as Jackson gets older and his taste changes. I’m keeping it super simple, as the room serves as both a bedroom as well as a playroom. I’ve chosen a cool palate of grey and blue. This harmonizes well with the rest of our house – something I try to do with all of my projects. I also wanted to find a coffee table where he can play, create art, or build puzzles – which I found at The Mine. Then I found these beautiful vintage boat pennants from McGee & Co. When I came across them I knew they had to go in his room.

One of my favorite things we’ve installed so far is the new rug. Jackson’s nursery rug didn’t quite work with the new bedroom layout and we needed more of the wood floors covered. When I came across a stunning Loloi rug called the Alder Rug on The Mine (which is having a 20% off sale at the moment!). It has arrived and is perfection. I’ve put together a mood board with some of my ideas for the room. For a small room with many challenges, I think it’s coming together perfectly.

What’s up next week? I’ll be talking about the lighting selection. A little update on the timing of this season’s One Room Challenge. Due to all of the natural disasters across the country there have been a few delays getting product in time to install. With that being said, for the first time ever ORC is extending this challenge for an extra week. This one means one thing, you get an extra sneak peek at what all of the One Room Challengers are doing. The big reveal will be November 15th!
